2. Martin DAVENPORT was born about 1682 in Pamunkey Neck?, New Kent Co., Virginia. He died in 1735 in Hanover Co., Virginia. Martin Davenport's will names only five sons, but circumstantial evidence indicates the probability of seven sons, four daughters: Mary, Thomas, Dorothy, William, John, Glover, Martin, David, James, Lucy, and Crotia. It appears that Martin had at least two wives, an as-yet-unidentified First Wife (who appears to have been the mother of as many as three children) as well as Dorothy, who appears to have been a Glover (and possibly the daughter of William Glover and his wife Mary of King William County). For research purposes the first three children are assigned to the First Wife; the remainder to Dorothy. Researchers are also considering the possibility of yet another wife named Crotia in light of both the daughter and granddaughters of that name, although the name appears to have entered the family earlier (Martin's brother Richard named a daughter Crotia long before Martin named his daughter Crotia).

Martin DAVENPORT and First Wife [--M?--] of Martin DAVENPORT were married before 1706. First Wife [--M?--] of Martin DAVENPORT died in Virginia. Assuming that Martin's children, beginning with daughter Dorothy, were the children of a second (or later) wife, then his frst wife must have died before 1716. Martin DAVENPORT and First Wife [--M?--] of Martin DAVENPORT had the following children:

Martin DAVENPORT and Dorothy [GLOVER?] were married about 1716 in King William Co.?, Virginia. Martin DAVENPORT and Dorothy [GLOVER?] had the following children:

15	v.	Martin DAVENPORT was born about 1720 in King William Co., Virginia. He died about 1800 in Spotsylvania Co., Virginia.
