First Generation

1. Davis DAVENPORT was born about 1660 in Pamunkey Neck?, New Kent Co.?, Virginia. In the absence of any other identifying data, despite research in depth in Colonial Virginia records, it is speculated that Davis Davenport was the bastard son of Richard Davis, Gentleman, of Upper New Kent/King & Queen County, and Ann Davenport, likely a transportee indentured servant on an adjoining plantation to Davis. Both Richard and Ann were identified with land within five miles of where Davis Davenport first appeared in Virginia records in 1696. He died before 1735 in King William Co., Virginia. There is no credible evidence as to the identity of the wife (or wives) of Davis Davenport.
